18 to 35ish

During term-time, we hold weekly meetings every Monday from 1pm in the upper room at Southampton University Faith and Reflection Centre (FRC). We enjoy an informal period of about thirty minutes quiet time, followed by time for catch up, mutual support and spiritual exploration over a cup of tea.

Young friends stay connected through a WhatsApp group, and share the latest news about environmental, peace and protest events we are involved with. We get together for shared meals, mutual support and lively conversations.

Young Friends General Meeting (YFGM)

"Using workshops and interactive spirituality sessions to explore how our faith is calling us to act in the world."

YFGM is a space for young Friends in Britain, where we can explore spiritual and community issues together. At YFGM weekends we live together as a community sharing worship, food, and company. We hold Meetings for Worship for Business, and a whole lot of games and fun.

We see ourselves as a diverse bunch, united by a willingness to explore issues surrounding faith and social justice, who worship together in silence, but also use workshops and interactive spirituality sessions to explore how our faith is calling us to act in the world.

Young Friends lead many sessions on different topics during the weekend, with some held by people from outside of YFGM. There are three  gatherings held over weekends in February, May, and October each year. These take place in various Quaker Meeting Houses across Britain.

YOUNG ADULT WORSHIP

"you don't have to be a Quaker to come..."

An online space for 18-35 year-olds to come together for worship, reflection, and connection. The focus is to have some quiet time together at the end of the day; it will be held in Quaker stillness. You will be joining a silent meeting, there will be space to speak if you feel moved to and there may be a reading by the host. It will last around 30 minutes and those who wish to stay for a chat for 15 minutes or so afterward are very welcome to. You don’t have to be a Quaker to come to worship.

We will mute ourselves when not speaking to help ensure that everyone can hear ministry and to minimise background noise. Do join the meeting whenever you are ready: don’t worry if you can’t make it for the start time.
